Is this worth your time?

Consider this when specialist support could remove a specific growth bottleneck in a livestock-technology business. Do not treat the technical-assistance budget as cash available for general expenses.

Ubunifu editorial assessment, not an organiser eligibility decision.

A stronger fit when...

Registered, for-profit African startups with at least two management-team members, a functioning minimum viable product and technology relevant to dairy or aquaculture. Kenyan dairy ventures are a priority fit. Revenue and partnerships strengthen readiness but the published minimum is an MVP.

Pause or look elsewhere when...

An unregistered idea, a one-person management team, or a conventional farming activity without the required technology and value-chain fit. The separately advertised working-capital loan is repayable and is not part of the grant benefit.

What the support actually means

Up to EUR 15,000 in tailored technical assistance, a dedicated adviser, investor introductions and sponsored trips to two community events plus one sector conference. The programme takes no equity. Additional scale-up grants are separately conditional, not automatic entitlements.

Costs and commitments: No equity; approximately two management hours weekly plus reporting.

Your costs, time and commitments

A management contact should commit about two hours weekly. Participants attend events and report business indicators during the programme and for at least a year afterwards. Onboarding is January 2027; support runs into February 2028.

How selection or access works

The deadline is 15 November 2026, followed by screening and interviews during 16-30 November and decisions in December. The published criteria cover team, traction, technology and impact alignment.

Preparation and application steps

Get these ready first

Preparation advice; the organiser determines mandatory documents.

  • Show a usable product and the dairy or aquaculture problem it solves.
  • Identify one support need, its cost and the business result it should enable.
  • Compile management roles, customer evidence and a concise record of revenue and fundraising.

Your next steps

  1. Check the official call and linked SAIS-GIZ application form.
  2. Agree internally who can attend, report progress and work with advisers.
  3. Apply for the core programme without counting optional future finance as secured.
